As Christians we are called to LOVE!
We are on day 66 of quarantine here in Peru. But really who’s counting! If you can imagine how shipments of food and how the entire population is suffering because they are not allowed to return to work. Still today we are currently in the phase that if you are not Police, Medical or a Food vendor you are not allowed out of your home or on the streets.
Rightfully so considering the daily number of those infected by the virus is still on the rise here. The lack of hospital beds and the lack of oxygen to help care for the sick is greatly becoming a frightening issue.
However despite the virus’s evil attack on human life, God’s love is so much greater. The gift of encountering His merciful love each new day and a chance to spread that same Godly love to others around us mustn’t be wasted.
With that said we have been trying for so many weeks to gain permission from the authorities to deliver food to the sweet people we serve. To the point we felt that our requests were going unheard and unanswered.
However, after feeling like we had been waiting for an eternity to our delight we heard a knock on our door.
When I opened it, to my surprise it was the Military telling us we could deliver food.
The only problem that we faced was how would we purchase the food. I quickly sent an email to a wonderful benefactor and within the hour the funds were in our account.
Within days we had purchased three loads of food that consisted of 500kg bags each of rice, potatoes, and sugar. Over 300 lbs of pasta, cooking oil, milk and fresh baked bread. Which was not easy to accomplish due to Military road blocks and the fact the government shutting down the market because of the 250 vendors that tested positive for the virus.
Needles to say the supply and demand chain has been violently interrupted in our area, as I assume to be the case in most areas of Peru.
So here is a very amateur video of what it looks like to deliver $1,000.00 of food to such sweet beautiful people. Praise God for a benefactor’s bountiful donation that allowed us to feed over 150 people in three different pueblos that we serve in.
There are so many uncertain things here within our mission post due to this pandemic, however the one thing that remains the same is that each day we must Love as he Loves us.
Our goal for sharing this video is to invoke within your heart the urge to Love Christ and all His people with all your heart!
