Love Until it Hurts

Meet Denison.

He loves to come visit us. But I cannot lie its hard at times to love him. He comes in our home without knocking and takes things and runs out of our home without asking. He sometimes is so filthy and dirty he leaves a pile of dirt under our table where he hides from us. If he sees we are home with the door closed (which in Peru means we are not accepting visitors at the moment) he will stand at are door kicking it and screaming until we open the door. Once we open it to let him know we are busy,  he will just greet us with a punch in the stomach and or a kick to the shin and walk right on in. I often look at my children and ask them WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? I can tell you it's not what we as humans would like to do. So what do we do, we offer him food which he scarfs down in a blink of an eye. Once he finishes a couple of glasses of clean water he's set and ready to go. You would think we would be glad for him to leave and maybe we were the first few times he left until the day he left and his mom was outside in the road and saw him leave our house. He was greeted by his mom with her yelling at him and having rocks thrown at him.
I often am ashamed of my feelings of not wanting to love this boy.

Mother Teresa experienced this kind of hurt. The kind that comes only when we love with our arms wide open. She had this to say from her own experience:

“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”

Pleased pray for us as we learn to love as Christ did until it hurt with our arms wide open.

Thank you and many blessings, to all who support us in missions. Please know this work would be impossible without each one of your prayers and monetary donations.
